Michelle Montreuil

Counselling Therapist (Provisional)

As a dedicated trauma-focused therapist, I specialize in integrating somatic practices into the healing journey. My approach recognizes the profound connection between mind, body, and spirit acknowledging that trauma is not just a mental experience but is also held in the body.

In my practice, I create a safe, supportive environment where clients can explore their trauma narratives while also tuning into their bodily sensations.

I believe that healing is a holistic process, and through somatic awareness, clients can find pathways to resilience, self-compassion, and empowerment.

Specialized therapy services

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Trauma-Informed CBT offers a gentle, supportive approach to healing. It helps you understand how past experiences may still be affecting your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours today. Together, we’ll work at your pace to build coping skills, explore unhelpful patterns, and create a sense of safety and empowerment as you move toward lasting change.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS is a compassionate, empowering approach that helps you connect with the different “parts” of yourself—like the inner critic, the people-pleaser, or the protector. Instead of pushing these parts away, we get curious about them, understand their roles, and work toward inner harmony. Together, we’ll help you access your core Self—calm, confident, and capable—and begin healing from the inside out.

Somatic or Body-Based Therapies

Somatic therapy helps you tune into the connection between your body and emotions. By paying attention to physical sensations, you can release stored tension and trauma that words alone might not reach. This gentle, body-focused approach supports healing on a deeper level—helping you feel more grounded, safe, and present in your everyday life.

Intensive Therapy

At Beyond Trauma Counselling, we understand the need for more time to process your experiences. Traditional 50-minute sessions can often feel too short, especially when dealing with something painful. That’s why we offer intensive therapy with longer, more frequent sessions to keep the momentum of progress going.

Our intensive therapy is tailored to your needs, whether you are going through a difficult life transition, divorce, or loss. We can meet you virtually or in nature, like at one of our favourite beaches for a 3-hour session. Often clients sign up for 12 hours of condensed therapy, usually over 2 weeks to attain quicker results for things like depression, anxiety and grief.

While intensives are not for for everyone and some may need ongoing weekly support, you can book a free consultation to see if it is right for you. Please check with your insurance company regarding coverage for sessions longer than 50 minutes in one day.

We’re here to support you in the way that works best for you.

Lee's Journey

"Michelle’s compassion, professionalism, and warmth made me feel supported from the start. She helped me process my grief in a healthy way and gave me tools to stay grounded through the most difficult time of my life. I’ve worked with many therapists, but Michelle is truly the first who felt like the right fit. Thanks to her guidance, I’ve found peace instead of pain. I’m so grateful for her support and can’t recommend her enough."
